Directions by Public Transportation

Public transportation is not great but there are several options.

The Metropolitan Transit System serves North County San Diego via the "COASTER" commuter rail service, which runs from the Santa Fe Depot in downtown San Diego to Oceanside with stops at two Carlsbad stations—Poinsettia and Carlsbad Village. Neither is walking distance but bikes are permitted; monthly passes are available. Click here for more info.

The Amtrak's San Diegan closest stop is Oceanside, just north of Carlsbad.

Other rail options include a new SPRINTER rail line connecting Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos and Escondido. Click here for more info.

North County Transportation District bus service connects both Carlsbad Coaster stations as well as the SPRINTER station in Oceanside.
