Chairman of the Board
Dr. Kenneth W. Kizer is an internationally recognized healthcare thought leader and advocate of information technology as an enabler for improving healthcare safety and quality. For the last six years, he has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Quality Forum (NQF), a Washington, DC- based private, non-profit healthcare quality improvement and standards setting organization. He also serves as a trustee of Trinity Health; as a member of the US Preventive Services Task Force; and as a consultant to several organizations and foreign countries. From 1994 to 1999, he served as the Undersecretary for Health in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this role, Dr. Kizer was the Chief Executive Officer of the VA healthcare system, the largest provider of healthcare in the nation, managing an annual budget of more than $20 billion, approximately 200,000 employees, and more than 1,300 sites of care. He was the chief architect and driving force behind the radical transformation of VA healthcare that occurred between 1995 and 1999. Dr. Kizer led the largest EHR implementation in United States history while serving in this capacity and pioneered several major IT innovations during his tenure. Dr. Kizer also served as Director of the California Department of Health Services, and was the state's top health official, from 1984-1991. He is an honors graduate of both Stanford University and UCLA, is board certified in six medical specialties or subspecialties, and has contributed over 400 publications in the medical and healthcare literature.
Michael J. Doyle
President and Chief Executive Officer
Michael J. Doyle is a distinguished entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer who has excelled at creating value for investors in healthcare and technology. Mike joined Medsphere in October 2007 after serving as President and CEO of Advantedge Healthcare Solutions, a New York-based Software as a Service (SaaS) outsourced physician-billing company backed by private equity investors. From 2000 to 2004, Mike served as Chairman and CEO of Salesnet, one of three pioneering global enterprise software providers who established the SaaS customer relationship market. In 1989 Mike founded The Standish Care Company, a provider of assisted living and long-term care services. As Chairman and CEO, he built the company organically, and in 1992 guided it through the first successful initial public offering (IPO) for an assisted-living service provider. A series of mergers and acquisitions in the years that followed resulted in the merger in 1996 of Standish with Carematrix; after the merger Mike served as CEO of the combined companies, which retained the Carematrix name. Mike's efforts ultimately yielded a highly successful organization with a market capitalization in excess of $500 million. In his career, Mike has held senior management positions at Voluntary Hospitals of America, and Tenet Healthcare Corporation's predecessor National Medical Enterprises. He received a bachelor of science in biology with a minor in community health from Tufts University, and an MBA with a focus on healthcare and finance from the University of Chicago, where he was a Kaiser Fellow.
Larry Augustin, PhD
Open Source Strategist
Larry Augustin is one of the most recognized names in the software industry. He was a Venture Partner at Azure Capital Partners specializing in software, systems, and related IT infrastructure technologies. Prior to Azure, he founded VA Linux (now VA Software), where he served as CEO and led the company to an initial public offering (IPO) that set the record for the largest first day gain ever in an IPO. In 2000, Worth Magazine named him as one of the Top 50 CEOs in America. Known as one of the early innovators in bringing open source technologies to the commercial market, he helped coin the term "open source". He serves on the board of directors for VA Software, the Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), Linux International, Linux Mark Institute, JBoss, SugerCRM, Pentaho and Fonality. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

Mike Kwatinetz is a founding General Partner with Azure Capital Partners, where he specializes in software and related infrastructure technologies. Prior to Azure, he was a Managing Director and the senior software and hardware analyst at several major Wall Street firms. His technology investment strategy newsletter, SoundBytes, was one of the most widely read on Wall Street. He was top-ranked by Institutional Investor in PC Hardware and ranked second in PC Software and was the only sell-side analyst to ever be top three rated in both software and hardware. Mike was also rated Institutional Investor's No. 1 Large-Cap "Home-Run Hitter" for stock selection among all Wall Street analysts. Reuters and the Wall Street Journal have selected him as the No. 1 PC analyst. He is also on the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) advisory committee. Mike received his MA and PhD degrees in Mathematical Modeling from the University of California Berkeley and his MBA in Accounting from New York University.
Dave Crowder

Dave Crowder is a founding General Partner of Thomas Weisel Venture Partners, where he focuses on investments in software and Internet services companies. Prior to founding TWVP, Dave was a Partner in Investment Banking at Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco, working with emerging technology companies. Before TWP, he was a Senior Managing Director and head of the Software and Internet Group in Investment Banking at NationsBanc Montgomery Securities. As an investment banker, Dave's clients included, among others, Hotels.com, InfoSpace, Open Text, Overture Services, Preview Travel (Travelocity), Real Networks, Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch and Yahoo! Prior to Montgomery, he was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Dave holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Finance from the University of Utah.
Nick Efstratis
General Partner, Wasatch Venture Fund
Nick Efstratis is a General Partner at Wasatch Venture Fund. He joined Wasatch shortly after completing his MBA program at the Marriott School of Managament at Brigham Young Univeristy. While pursuing his MBA, Nick was retained by Wasatch as a consultant to research, analyze, and make recommendations on strategic investments. Nick was also a member of the Business Development team at Excite Corporation, where he worked with Excite's Senior Management and production teams to identify strategic content and technology elements to advance Excite's services, distribution, and branding. Nick was also a member of the founding management team of NetDocuments. He has a BS in Entrepreneurship with a minor in Accounting/Economics and an MBA from Brigham Young University.
Randall S. Prust, MD
Anesthesiologist, Angel Investor
Dr. Prust graduated with highest honors with a BSE in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University in 1974 and honors from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1982. He completed his internship, residency, and board certification in both anesthesiology and pain management. He is currently the Medical Director of El Dorado Surgicenter in Tucson, Arizona, and lectures nationwide about the latest innovations in pain management. He has been Chief of Staff and served on the board of trustees of El Dorado Hospital. Dr. Prust was the first president of the Triad Hospitals (NYSE: TRI) National Physician Leadership Group and served on Triad's Board of Directors. He is currently on the board of directors of NexTrade Holdings, Medsphere Systems Corporation, Charity for Women, and Triad Surgicenters. He has published extensively in scientific and medical literature and authored "Conquering Pain" (Berkley Press, 1997). An angel financier for multiple companies, Dr. Prust also started El Dorado Surgicenter in a joint venture with Triad Hospitals.
