Michael J. Doyle, FACHE - Chairman

An entrepreneur and experienced chief executive whose focus on strategy, innovation, people and process has enabled him to create value for investors in healthcare and technology, Mike Doyle is a hospital executive by training and a healthcare transformer by experience.

He served as president and CEO of Medsphere from late 2007 to August 2011, moving to the board thereafter to concentrate on creative disruption in the healthcare marketplace through focused objectives--OpenVista evangelism, Ecosystem development and strategic partnership creation--enabling every hospital in the U.S. to afford the most widely deployed EHR in the world. Most recently, Mike served as president and CEO of Advantedge Healthcare Solutions. Backed by private equity investors, Advantedge is a New Jersey-based provider of medical billing software-as-a-service (SaaS) systems to physicians. Earlier, he served as chairman and CEO of Salesnet, one of three SaaS pioneers in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) marketplace.

Earlier in his career, Mike founded The Standish Care Company, a pioneering assisted-living provider. As chairman and CEO, Mike guided the company through the first successful initial public offering (IPO) for an assisted-living service provider and co-founded the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) to give this new industry a voice. Following a series of mergers and acquisitions, and Standish's eventual merger with Carematrix, he served as CEO of the combined companies under the Carematrix name. Mike's efforts ultimately yielded a highly successful organization with 2000 employees and a market capitalization in excess of $500 million. He has also held senior management positions at Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA) and National Medical Enterprises, the predecessor to Tenet Healthcare Corporation.

In May 2009, Lutheran Healthcare CEO Wendy Goldstein honored Mike with the hospital’s prestigious Sister Fedde Award in recognition of his leadership in the development of open-source health technology and contribution to the health of the Brooklyn, N.Y., community this OpenVista customer serves.

A frequent speaker at industry conferences and university forums on healthcare technology and quality improvement, Mike is a registered Business Wire “ExpertSource” and available to help educate industry, business and consumer audiences on issues related to healthcare automation and the use of health IT to drive healthcare quality, safety, efficiency and financial stability. A big proponent of open source technology’s ability to transform healthcare, he earned a bachelor of science in biology (with a minor in community health) from Tufts University (Medford, Mass.), and an MBA (concentration in hospital administration and finance) from the University of Chicago, where he was a Kaiser Fellow. A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), Mike is on the advisory board of National University and active in various civic and community affairs.
