Richard K. Sullivan

Chief Government Officer / General Manager

Richard is chief government officer and general manager of multiple divisions within Medsphere, including Government Services, Commercial Sales and Marketing, and Interfaces and Technical Services. He has responsibility for the successful delivery of all government products and professional services projects, as well as total company revenue. 

Richard oversees strategic planning; sales and marketing; full software and systems development and release; implementation and support; and resource planning and program management. He also manages business relationships with dozens of systems integrators and other firms. The teams he manages deliver software and services that fuel innovation and enable customers to maximize the latest electronic health record (EHR) applications and technologies.

Previously, Richard led the company's Product Management, Product Development, IT, R&D, Government Services and Interfaces teams. 

Before joining Medsphere in 2008, Richard spent 23 years with NEC, Booz Allen Hamilton, Misys healthcare and other firms in senior and executive leadership positions, including as president of Automated Data Sciences, a small IT company later acquired by a large systems integrator. He began his career on Capitol Hill working for Congressman Ron Packard and shortly thereafter spent several years working overseas in Tokyo.

Richard has a bachelor’s in political science from San Diego State University and a master’s in information systems from the American University in Washington, DC.  He has served on several boards and holds numerous technical, project management and government contracting certifications.
