Medsphere announces the sale of OpenVista® to Century City Doctor's Hospital (CCDH) of Los Angeles, a 110-bed acute care facility with 150 affiliated physicians established two years ago.

2007 February

Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County (MHSC) - a 99-bed, rural acute care facility in Rock Springs, Wyoming - selects OpenVista® as part of a major facility renovation.

Medsphere releases the source code for its OpenVista® electronic health record (EHR) platform in new server and client-side community editions. The announcement marks the launch of Medsphere's efforts to gather an open source community around its platform and accelerate EHR adoptions by providing a low-cost VistA-based alternative with opportunities for collaborative development.

2007 January

Medsphere announces a new sale of OpenVista® at Lutheran Medical Center, a 476-bed hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

2006 October

Medsphere prepares for growth and expands senior management team. Rusty Lewis is appointed as Senior Vice President for Engineering and Development and Chief Technology Officer; Denean K. Rivera as Senior Vice President for Client Services and Strategic Partnerships; and Kathy Doub-English as Vice President for Product Management. They join Dr. Kizer, Mike Shannahan, Chief Financial Officer, and Frank Pecaitis, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing to round out the management team.

2006 September

Midland Memorial Hospital becomes the first community hospital to successfully implement the OpenVista® EHR.

2006 May

Medsphere selected as a winner of the annual "Red Herring 100 North America" award by Red Herring magazine. The list recognizes 100 privately held companies in North America that play a leading role in innovating the technology business.

2006 April

As an important step toward healthcare reform efforts, The Bureau for Behavior Health and Health Facilities of West Virginia's Department of Health and Human Resources selects Medsphere to deploy OpenVista in seven state-owned and operated facilities.

2006 January

Medsphere acquires Clinicial Informatics Associates, Incorporated (CIAi), uniting the two leading VistA-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) companies and expanding Medsphere's product and service offerings.

2005 December

Community Health Network of West Virginia selects Medsphere OpenVista Clinic™.

2005 November

Dr. Kenneth Kizer, MD, MPH, expands his role with the company and is named Medsphere's Chief Executive Officer.

2005 June

Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs' (ODVA) 7-site, 1,500 bed implementation is completed on-time, under-budget meeting customer expectations.

2005 February

Midland Memorial Hospital becomes the first commercial adopter of the Medsphere OpenVista® platform signaling Medsphere's entry into its "go-to-market" phase.

2005 January

Medsphere completes its $7.5 million Series B financing led by Azure Capital Partners.

2004 June

First ODVA site is fully operational in 69 days; 301 beds deployed with 250 people trained with a high user satisfaction rating.

2003 December

Medsphere, in partnership with HP, begins the first domestic, enterprise implementation of the full VistA system in a non-VA setting with the implementation of OpenVista at a seven-facility long term care organization in Oklahoma (ODVA).

2003 September

Medsphere receives its first venture capital investment from Thomas Weisel Venture Partners and Wasatch Ventures to fund Medsphere's "proof-of-concept" phase.

2002 September

Medsphere completes Pacific Hui project to develop and trademark OpenVista - the first Open Source enterprise electronic health record (EHR).

2002 February

Medsphere Systems Corporation is founded by brothers Scott and Steve Shreeve. The company embarks on a vision to revolutionize healthcare delivery by leveraging the VistA-based electronic health record developed by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
