Director, DevOps

The director of DevOps is a detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated professional who oversees operations of Medsphere’s AWS- and Azure-based inpatient products, including CareVue, RCM, Wellsoft and others, as well as on-premises deployments. The director of DevOps works regularly with various Medsphere teams to modernize and improve the inpatient product suite and infrastructure with the objective of maximizing product uptime, stability, and security while reducing overall costs.

As the director of DevOps at Medsphere, you’ll get to:

  • Oversee all aspects of DevOps operations & product deployments
  • Utilize industry standard best-practice implementation methodologies, including incorporation of business and clinical workflow processes
  • Manage departmental staffing needs: hiring, training, reviews / evaluations, foster skills development, etc.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage metrics / KPIs as a basis for continuous improvement
  • Direct assignment and prioritization of tasks assigned to DevOps teams
  • Continually improve infrastructure provisioning automation capabilities
  • Maintain deployment, architecture, configuration, and operations documentation
  • Standardize and continually improve inpatient product suite infrastructure
  • Standardize and continually improve application / code deployment and release management processes
  • Provide technical guidance, education, and coaching for team managers & members on operations and related topics
  • Collaborate with Development, IT, and other teams on implementation, usage, and improvement of CI and CD tools
  • Collaborate with various teams within Medsphere to improve products
  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management systems
  • Test implemented designs
  • Manage code / application deployments in all environments
  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by Medsphere
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of progressive leadership experience in IT/DevOps or similar
  • Expertise in one or more of the following—client architecture, web services, operating system or networking, server architecture and browser interfaces—with a strong command of the others
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities, creative problem solving skills, resourcefulness and ability to help others solve problems
  • Ability to plan and lead team projects to completion with minimal guidance
  • Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and appropriately with a wide range of audiences
  • Can establish priorities, work independently, and pursue objectives without supervision
  • Design proficiency as measured by extensibility and scalability
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across all segments of the organization
  • 5+ years’ experience with the following:
    • Enterprise-scale systems deployments and operations
    • Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure
    • DevOps methodologies/operations
    • Scripting in PowerShell, Python, and similar languages
    • Linux (preferably Redhat/CentOS)
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2 to 2019
  • Demonstrable, extensive experience with the following:
    • Real-world application of security best practices
    • Microsoft Hyper-V and/or VMware virtualization platforms
    • SQL Server 2008 to current and Azure SQL Managed Instances
    • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) for Windows Server
    • Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services
    • Development tools, including Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Jenkins, Git, etc.
    • HIPAA/HITECH compliance
  • Current knowledge of latest industry trends; ability to stay current on developing trends and apply them in a meaningful manner
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in the healthcare IT industry preferred
  • Understanding of GT.M, Cache and MUMPs a plus
  • Experience with firewall technology, switching, and routing
  • Experience with modern backup platforms

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to provide services during off hours
  • Scheduled night, weekend, and holiday work may be required
