Pharmacy Consultant – EHR Implementation

The Pharmacy Consultant drives the methodology of all activities related to the effective implementation of Pharmacy applications in a variety of healthcare settings. Responsibilities include close coordination with the CareVue Project Manager and other clinical consultants responsible for implementing the CareVue electronic health record (EHR).  

As a Pharmacy Consultant at Medsphere, you’ll get to:

  • Take responsibility for all phases of software implementation: design, configuration, user training, and go live support for the CareVue Pharmacy Information System
  • Work with clients to implement our system and assist them in any process redesign or workflow challenges 
  • Act as the primary contact during implementation between Medsphere and the client’s pharmacy resources
  • Work closely with the pharmacy director/manager 
  • Contribute product knowledge, practical experience, and customer feedback to development of new Pharmacy product features and functions
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure appropriate transfer of knowledge and incorporation of business and clinical workflows into new product developments

Ideal Skills, Background and Expertise

  • Extensive experience with healthcare information systems
  • 3 or more years of experience implementing Pharmacy systems
  • Experience managing VistA Pharmacy application
  • Good understanding of project management theory
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in documentation, training, and information technology support
  • Understanding of integration and interdependencies with other clinical and financial software systems
  • Understanding of pharmacy workflow and bar code medication administration (BCMA), which require a high degree of technical aptitude
  • A creative and innovative team player with the proven ability to build good relationships with internal and external customers; possessed of diplomacy, flexibility, and a passion for work
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Proactive in attaining goals and objectives with a self-starter disposition
  • Level of comfort with working independently from remote locations
  • Ability to analyze, comprehend and apply information
  • Skilled with coordinating work activity and managing time effectively
  • Experience in HL7 framework for exchange, integration, sharing and retrieval of electronic health information
  • Familiarity with using SQL to query a database
  • Ability to travel from 25-75 percent annually (domestic and international)
