Key regional heart center transitions to solution that enables qualification for federal healthcare IT adoption incentives

San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Carlsbad, CAMedsphere Systems Corporation, the leading provider of affordable and interoperable healthcare IT platform solutions, today announced that the Cardiovascular Center of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean (CCPRC) will implement the company’s CareVue electronic health record (EHR) platform. Based in the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan, CCPRC’s decision is driven by the need for a highly functional and affordable system that supports qualification for federal healthcare IT adoption dollars.

“CareVue will enable us to qualify for federal dollars without having to pay the exorbitant purchase prices and annual fees that accompany most EHR systems,” said CCPRC Chief Medical Officer Juan Sotomonte. “We look forward to working with Medsphere during implementation and configuration of a CareVue system that truly meets our specific needs.”

In the Caribbean region, CCPRC plays a crucial role as the essential provider of heart-related treatments and surgeries. As the name implies, patients travel to San Juan from all over the region for assistance with heart ailments.
