First Emergency Department-Specific EHR Vendor to Earn 2015 Edition EHR Certification; Outscores Major Competitors on SUS (System Usability Score)

Somerset, NJ – August 3, 2018 – Wellsoft Corporation, a Best in KLAS award-winning Emergency Department EHR provider, announced today that Wellsoft EDIS v11 has received 2015 Edition EHR certification through the ONC’s Health IT Certification Program, and is certified in accordance with the applicable criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The certification designates that the software functionality enables eligible clinicians and hospitals to meet the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Promoting Interoperability policy requirements (previously called Meaningful Use), and to receive payments under federal EHR incentive programs including MIPS.

According to recent data, just over 300 EHRs have passed the rigorous 2015 Edition EHR certification criteria. Of the EHR vendors that are represented, Wellsoft is the only Emergency Department-specific vendor that has achieved 2015 Edition certification to date.

One component of 2015 Edition certification necessitates EHR vendors to maintain a user-centered design approach and submit a summative usability report on their system. Based on this report, Wellsoft EDIS scored 84.6 out of 100 on the SUS (System Usability Score) – making the system ‘very usable’ and placing it above industry average. Additionally, this score outperforms all major competitors that included the SUS to date, including enterprise vendors that submitted usability reports for ED-specific modules.

“Usability is such a critical component of EHR adoption and success; however, it can be difficult for eligible clinicians and hospitals to assess on their own,” said Michelle Knighton, Vice President of Federal Policy and Government Affairs at Wellsoft. “That’s why the SUS score is such an important tool and guide for healthcare organizations that are evaluating different EHR options – and we are thrilled Wellsoft EDIS has achieved such a superior score in comparison to other EHRs.”

“The 2015 Edition certification demonstrates our leadership and commitment to usability, interoperability and to meeting our clients’ needs,” says Dr. John Santmann, President of Wellsoft. “Our clients are our top priority, and we are proud to offer them a solution that continues to be highly usable and is certified to meet quality reporting requirements for 2019 and beyond.”

Wellsoft EDIS version 11, a Health IT module, is 2015 Edition compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ACB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
