Expanded functionality completes integrated EHR solution and enables New Mexico critical access hospital to automate most pre- and post-clinical visit processes

Carlsbad, CAMedsphere Systems Corporation, the leading provider of affordable and interoperable healthcare information technology (IT) solutions and services, today announced that New Mexico’s Guadalupe County Hospital, a CareVue electronic health record (EHR) client since 2011, will add the RCM Cloud suite to their current Medsphere EHR platform. With Enterprise Scheduling, Patient Accounting, Collections and Payments, and Informatics modules, Medsphere’s RCM Cloud solution integrates with the CareVue EHR to support most hospital functions.

As the name suggests, RCM Cloud is a cloud-based system available without additional hardware or a time-consuming and disruptive implementation. Importantly, RCM Cloud modules include specific capabilities such as contract management, an enterprise-wide master patient index (MPI), A/R follow-up and bad debt monitoring that enable precise tracking of organizational finances and much improved collections. RCM Cloud, together with the CareVue EHR, makes full use of clinical data to ensure a better bottom line.

“CareVue has become such an essential component in the care we provide that adding RCM Cloud was a natural extension of our system,” said Guadalupe CEO Christina Campos. “As a safety net provider and the only hospital within many miles, it is essential for our patients that we put Guadalupe County Hospital on the best possible financial footing. We’re also able to add RCM Cloud with minimal disruption, which makes this a relatively straightforward and risk-free decision.”

Located about 120 miles due east of Albuquerque, Guadalupe County demonstrates the flexibility of Medsphere’s solutions and payment model. Without putting the hospital’s budget and survival in jeopardy, Campos and her team have been able to acquire a comprehensive system that improves patient care without sacrificing function for cost.

“I’ve taken no greater pleasure in the success of a client than I do with Guadalupe County,” said Medsphere President and CEO Irv Lichtenwald. “What Christina Campos and her team do for the community—the importance they put on being a failsafe for Santa Rosa and the surrounding area—inspires me greatly and demonstrates how IT can improve care everywhere, not just at large health systems.”

By making the CareVue EHR available through a subscription service, Medsphere provides comprehensive healthcare IT to any organization regardless of size or budget.
