HealthIT.gov recently published an interesting infographic detailing the progress of electronic health records (EHRs). The infographic provides an interesting looking at where we were and where we are going in the use of EHRs.

Some interesting facts include:

  • Physicians’ use of EMR/EHR systems increased 39% from 2001 to 2011.
  • 17 million consumers used mobile devices to access health information in 2011.
  • Results suggest that people who are more engaged in their health get better health care.

The infographic appears to be a source of encouragement for patients to demand the use of EHRs from their healthcare provider, in order to improve their health the health of their communities.

If you’re looking to make a case for the adoption of and improvements that result from the use of EHRs, this is a great resource. You can access the infographic below or at the source, HealthIT.gov.
