In July, 2016, CMS released a new set of proposed rules to modify Meaningful Use / MIPS. Judging from the history of such proposed changes, by fall they will be finalized, and we will see many Meaningful Use / MIPS Stage 2 and 3 changes that will significantly reduce the burden on providers struggling to meet MU requirements. The proposed rule includes changes to several programs, including the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment and Ambulatory Surgical Center Payment Systems, Quality Reporting Programs, and the Value Based Purchasing Program.
