HIPAA & Security 1 Minute Read

Lately, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about the new Omnibus HIPAA Rule. With the Rule going into effect last week, it’s important that all affected parties begin to prepare to be compliant by the September 23, 2013 deadline.

One of the most notable impacts of the new Rule is the expanded definition of Business Associates. Under the Rule, the definition of a Business Associate has changed and broadened. There are also new liabilities for individuals and entities considered to be Business Associates. These changes must be addressed by those affected in order to avoid hefty penalties when the compliance deadline arrives.

To help everyone get a better, high-level understanding of the changes, we’ve created a handy Infographic that details the revised definition of Business Associates, the new liabilities and the requirements those liabilities impose.
